The Nesar 150 Shoulder Slide

Our goal at Nesar Systems is to present a shoulder rehabilitation device that is designed to increase range of motion and to increase the overall strength of the shoulder. The Nesar Shoulder Slide concentrates on range of motion while strengthening the muscles within the rotator cuff. The Nesar Slide, with its closed chain shoulder stabilizing track system, can accommodate 40, 60 and 75-degree angles as well as vertical angles of shoulder elevation. This closed chain tracking system, assures a safe rehab that accelerates the recovery of many shoulder conditions.
The use of multi-angle close chain rehabilitation exercises has been found to vary the muscular demands on shoulder musculature. Recent research has found that by performing closed chain exercises, the supraspinatus musculature is under less demand as opposed to unsupported exercises.

This type of closed chain rehabilitation exercises allows patients to re-establish neuromuscular control while placing miniminal stress on the healing tissues.

The Nesar Slide contains an electro-biofeedback mechanism that enables the therapist to set a desired elevation for the patient. The electro-biofeedback is an audible signal which is heard when the patient reaches the elevation set by the therapist. As the patient improves, the set point is raised for goal oriented report ability. Increased resistance can be accomplished by simply adding on the weights provided. The importance of this unit lies heavily in its unique design in the overall rebuilding of the rotator cuff muscles within the shoulder.

The rotator cuff muscles that are targeted by this device are extremely vital to total joint shoulder recovery and stability in the shoulder. This rehabilitation apparatus stresses the importance of the four rotator cuff muscles while maintaining and recruiting the three deltoid muscles and other muscles within the glenohumeral region. With NESAR, we can work together to restore normal form and function after injury, illness, or surgery. We can attain our goal of this painless range of motion and strengthening through the Nesar Shoulder Slide. With the Nesar Shoulder Slide, working hard to speed up healing, your end result will be the establishment of normal joint mobility and normal balance between the force couples of the shoulder.

Advantages of the Nesar Shoulder Slide
  1. Early return of ROM without placing stress onto the healing structure.

  2. The use of the PNF techniques (ie. approximation to the glenohumeral joint)

  3. Early proprioception to the glenohumeral joint along with the use of closed kinetic chain exercises.

  4. Biofeedback on the slide works with patients to show their progress and allow them to rehab painlessly.

  5. Scapular musculature was initiated early on the rehabilitation progress.

Suggested Nesar Shoulder Slide Protocol
The Nesar Shoulder Slide can be incorporated into your current rotator cuff repair protocol by following the general guidelines outlined for you below:

Initial - 3 weeks post surgery
At least 45 degrees may start passive ROM. Will need assistance from the non-involved extremity.

    3-4 weeks post surgery
Active assisted ROM is added. The slide will assist the arm for AAROM.

    4-5 weeks post surgery
Increase the angle of the slide to 60 degrees.

    5-6 weeks post surgery
    Slide can be full upright.

If adequate ROM is available after 6-8 weeks, may start to add weights for shoulder flexion only. Start with arm slide at 45 degrees, and then progress at patient tolerance.

"The unit can be either wall mounted or door mounted. The shoulder slide can be door mounted using the door mounting plate provided. The slide is then easily removed from the door to be stored for later use."

"An optional height adjusting plate can be purchased to allow for elevation
changes to suite your height and or to accomadate wheel chair bound patients."
